And what a guitarist he was!

The many live recordings of Little Johnny Jewel are testament to his brilliance as a guitar player extraordinaire. How he gets overlooked as one of pop music’s greatest remains one of life’s great mysteries. And a complete travesty, especially when tedious bores like Clapton are revered as godlike. Doglike would be my assessment of him in comparison to Tom Verlaine.

And you’re right about Marquee Moon being punk, not punk…it was an absolutely vital piece of the jigsaw that became punk, post, shoe gaze, New Romantic, whatever.

He was great - and don't forget Richard Lloyd's contribution! It works best when both of them are playing together. I'm not sure Tom Verlaine is overlooked, though. Those who know, know.

Yes, you’re absolutely right about Richard Lloyd’s contribution to Television’s sound…how could I have neglected to mention him…ha-ha?!

I guess you’re right about those who know, know, but it’s such a shame there don’t appear to be too many of we who know.

Life’s not fair, right…ha-ha?

Maybe I just know a lot of weird people - but they’d all testify to Television’s greatness. Anyway, mass appeal is overrated!

If Sheeran, Coldplay, and any other recent mass appeal malarkey is anything to go by, then you are absolutely right!

Wish I knew as many weird people as you, Alastair…ha-ha!
